I finished recording my thoughts in Oakmont and went inside. My friend was lining up the knick knacks on the table and everyone was going to choose one. I helped her select stuff.
Later I made a lot of jokes. Missy had said I was being a good sport and I asked how many points I had made. I also asked the others and discovered I had fewer points than everyone else. I was eating cookies and my friend had packed many of the dishes. I sat with grandma chatting about my mother and grandmother.
Later I helped her and my friend take down the cork board in the garage. I spent some time out with the car. A sister had placed her bag in the front. Inside, the house was winding down. We gave everyone a hug and took photo out front. Then the sister, her boyfriend and I got in the car with my friend and we drove to Santa Rosa. My friend had wanted us to go to her mom's house but there wasn't much time so we dropped them off. We broke some plates on the way.
Later we got lost and had retrace our path. Once at her mom’s we were nearly dead with exhaustion. They went through some stuff in the car and they looked at the broken plates.
I wrote that I tried to be funny but that wasn't easy. We had beer and pizza--it was supposed to be for us and the sister but it was just the two of us. I was in bed at 11.
In the morning of the day that I wrote this the alarm went off at 5:30 and 6:15 but we got up at 9:30. I had coffee while the ladies talked. I interacted with the pets. Later my friend sewed a hook and eye onto her skirt. I noted that one of the ottomans had dishes in it.
After saying goodbye to the folks we tried to ride along the SMART tracks but the bike path was discontinuous so we took Coffey and tried again. However, the path was too often dirt and the track was at an angle to the street grid. In one spot the path spit us out into a field and we had to negotiate a dirt track.
We ended up at Flying Goat. There was a man talking about his new born. We interacted with some of the others there too. We put sparking water in our bottles and then headed down Olive and then Corby-- past all of the dealerships. There were only a couple of conflicts along the way. We passed through Moreland which went from urban to rural. On Scenic we looked at the map and my friend saw a pheasant and later we collected some turkey feathers. my buddy texted to say thanks for coming.
From there we zigzagged to Graton Casino and I noted that the security there all used bikes. We were going to continue south on Redwood Drive but we stopped for a bit and while my friend was away by herself, I found a path under the freeway.
We continued down a creekside path through Cotati until Plaza where we had some espresso and a muffin. I looked at the map and decided that after taking old highway for a bit we could take Minnesota through the hills. We decided against going up Ely. On Macdowell we tried to visit Lagunitas but they were closed. Macdowell was a terrible road. We went to the river near Lynch Creek and under the freeway. On Washington there was a driver that said we shouldn't ride in the street.
We had strong beer and food at Dempsey's and wanted to go to a bar but caught the bus instead.
Later I wrote that I had done my notes on the bus until we got off at Golden Gate Bridge. Then we got the bikes and rode through the presidio. We went to 15th and crossed over to 25th and Fulton. We got honked at at 42nd and Lincoln. I lost my bag there. I put it back on and then we rode past Andytown to my house where I found many of the plants had wilted.
This is an occasional series chronicling my life. This Notebook Analysis series is meant to be contemporaneous piece developed as an agglomeration of my notebook pages. In each of these posts I used my notes to develop my recent thoughts.
