The Coalition’s Ongoing Commitments

On October ninth I wrote that I snuck out at 4 and fought a head wind to PHill.  I noted that I had a kid following me across Bancroft.  I got on the train and edited.  At Powell I went to Bristol Farms but my friend had not arrived so I went to the Coalition office but returned to Bristol about ten minutes later.  We ate there and when I got back to the office with him the meeting was in full swing.  A number of known transportation policy people and Coalition staffers were there.  Two of which presented the Coalition’s ongoing commitments to the group.  I asked about our connection to the State and my friend asked a question as well.  Afterwards I talked to some of the board and said hi to people I knew.

Walking to Marx Meadow

On October sixth I wrote that the day before I had looked up exams to take and then I resigned myself to check out Hardly Strictly.  I rode to JFK and parked at the Polo Fields and started walking to Marx Meadow.  I bumped into a riding buddy from the Car Free Happy Hour and we drank some borrowed beer and enjoyed the breeze as T Bone played.  Our mutual acquaintances, as far as we knew, were near the valet so we ventured over that way.  I left my buddy at the far eastern stage.  I didn’t see my friends so I went to the Gold Stage and took pictures of Dwight Yoakum and tweeted.  I I finally found the people I was looking for at the rooster stage.

Afterwards I went to Celia’s, which was packed but I found a seat.  There was a regular I knew and I got to know the bartender—the other was off but was still helping.  I went home after sending a text to a lady I knew on Twitter.  At home I checked my email and had an hour long conversation with dad.  He gave me some financial advice.  He told me that forming a company is alright as long as I only employ contracting up to a point.  My twitter friend sent me a reply.

Then, that morning, I awoke at 645 and sent her another message on the way to work because our conversation had touched on something that I thought she would find interesting.  We met up that day, October the seventh, for a transportation policy happy hour.  I had gotten off at 430 and rode to PHill with a tail wind and after stopping a the bank, I walked to Minna.  I bought her a beer and got to see a bunch of people from MTA, CTA and an assortment of planning agencies.  I have noted on many occasions that I don’t fit in with planners.  I introduced my friend to as many people as I was able and I met a few new people.  When we left we made plans to attend Winterfest.  I caught an N to 9th where I watched the Giants win the Division championship sitting with Little Shamrock regulars.  I held a Chihuahua owned by the friend of a gilr that used to bartend there.

I Climbed Page Street

On October I wrote that I rode to PHill breathing a sigh that it was Friday.  I rode to Civic and called my friend.  I climbed Page Street and had a taco.  I went to the Page bar and when my friend showed up we went to Kezar together for Bike Party.  There we bumped into his college classmate while talking about corporations.  He was with an Aussie.  I asked him about diffusion of innovation.  We rode through Band Shell and down Cabrillo to about 22nd.  We climbed Lake to the back of Mountain Lake.  I saw all of the people I normally see and a business guy I know—he gave me a beer with a card for his new job.

We rode back to Lake and to the Arguello gate. I saw the couple I first started to go on the ride with.  At Palace of Fine Arts I the spouses of my friends had arrived and I noted that “the men” had engaged in a sustained discussion of mechanics as I looked on.  We were leaving and I interrupted my friend in the middle of a conversation with a lady he knew.  People started to peel off at Fort Mason.  We rode Van Ness to Beach and then to Pier 7 and there the party wound down.  My friend and his old classmate wanted food so we went to Mel’s.  I left them at Ninth Street and was in bed at 2.

The next day I got up at 1030 and went to Java Beach and the barista was ignoring me.  I gave up on her and finished the paper.  I noted that my friend from the night before wasn’t receptive to my texts so I went home and worked on the AAG presentation and updated my job search profiles.  I then went to Park Chow and Shamrock to watch the Giants work through 18 innings until they won with a home run from Belt.  I met two girls back from Hardly Strictly that were into the game.  I also got a response from a lady I knew through Twitter.  I went to bed at around 1030.

On the day that I wrote this I woke up at 3 and 930.  I went to Java Beach and read the paper.  I came home then to work on the NA and look at the GIS exams.

Go To Specs

On October third I noted the day before that the air in PHill was less stuffy than at 49 Geary.  I went upstairs and looked around but didn’t find much that I liked.  I had sent my friend a message but he called off so I went to 77 which doesn’t seem to have any galleries anymore and then to 251 Post and that place was abuzz.  Unfortunately, I found very little to love outside of a piece at Haines.  I went to dela Presse and had a sandwich.  It was really hot and all of the openings were open.  I rode to Visuvio and two waitresses I knew were working.  The bartender—a friend from high school—was talking to some guy.  I asked him about his old classmate and he told me that it was her high school classmate that he had had a crush on.  The Royals won the game.  One of the waitresses was really friendly when she left.  I was glad for that.  I saw another bartender—the one that has worked there longest—talking to an old high school classmate and started talking to them.  She stepped out and I got to talk to the late shift bar back.  That was nice.  I talked to the bartender and my old classmate for a while and when she asked me to go to Specs I went home instead.

Background in Common

On 100114 I wrote that I had sent a message to a friend in the afternoon and so just left at five and boarded at PHill.  I had forgotten a pen so didn’t work on the notes.  I got off at Embarcadero and went to CVS.  I went to the bank and got my bike.  I went to Iron Cactus and checked with her again.  I got us some food and when she got in we talked.  The A’s had been behind but they caught up.

We rushed off to get to the fundraiser because we were late.  When we arrived we bumped into a guy I had met before.  The host and hostess allowed us park inside.  There were only a few people—15 about.  We were getting to know each other when the hostess, supervisor and campaign manager began discussing their campaign.  A few people came in during the discussion.

There were a number of people I knew—planners, open streets organizers and transportation directors.  I later discovered that the hostess and I had some work back ground in common.  It was around then that my companion wanted to leave so we said goodbye.  I had made a donation.  As we rode away we talked about social media and agreed to meet up for other events.  I rode the Wiggle to Page and got home at 10 and posted.  I sent a recruiter my resume and was in bed at 12.  My buddy had texted me that he was interested in going with me to the galleries.

Staffers There about Feminism

On 092914 I noted that I had I left the house in the morning on the day before and had traveled to Stern Grove to catch my breath and then to Ocean and Geneva where I messaged my friends who I knew were at Sunday Streets.  When I checked twitter around that time I was surprised to learn that two of my geodata friends wanted me to help plan a Happy Hour.  I rode to Seneca and one of my coworkers randomly contacted me.  When I found her we went looking for my other friends at the Bicycle Coalition table.  I talked to the staffers there about feminism and the Women+Bikes film thing that I had attended.  I talked to the freedom from training wheels lady and then my coworker and I went and had spätzle then vfive of us met up at Cumaica to discuss our lives and the days events.  When we departed I introduced one of the volunteers to them.  he was an intersection monitor.  After I while my coworker and I walked to a liquor store on Persia, got some beers and climbed to the water tower in McLaren Park.  We saw a red tailed hawk and sat and looked at the view.

We went to the lake and walked around.  We had our beers and I talked about feminism.  I pointed out that it seemed feminism is not a career path but it is part of everything.  I explained my perspective on literatures and jobs in research.  We walked to Mansell and Brazil and discussed her TA in college.  I had met her a few times—she was really awkward.  We descended to Athens and I got my bike on Persia and then we went to Mission.  I was catching my breath while she went into a bar.  We walked to Monterey and I got a message from the gilr I had met the Friday before but I  blew her off.

We went to the BART station and I dropped off the bike.  We then went to Glen Park Station and had some beers.  We discussed sexism at work.  This was when I learned that a mutual friend, who had been secretly dating her student, had had a kid.  I learned that the relationship hadn’t worked out and that they had broken up.  We walked around Diamond Street and then went to the store and got some foods.  I received a text from my old Long Beach classmate when we boarded with my bike.  I high fived her at Embarcadero and left my bike at the lockers.

I met my friend from Long Bech state and his wife at the Hyatt.  They had just watched the Giants game.  We walked to the Elephant and Castle where we talked about the old days and my job.  They said that they wanted to move to the East Bay.  We played darts and discussed school and what I wanted to do for my career and research.  I learned he was having trouble looking for a job but that she had passed the bar.  I said by to them and stopped by Peet’s to send an email about Wiki’s and geodata.  I took the L and it switched back at Sunset.  I was in bed at 1230.

The Barber was Talky

On 092714 I noted that I left work at 545.  I rode to PHill and though I had plenty of time I was still breathless.  I took the train to Civic.  Some lady put her bike on mine but she got off with me.  I stopped at Wells and was surprised to discover that I would have the amount I wanted on my next paycheck.  I rode Grove to Octavia and climbed to The Page to watch the game.  My coworker and another friend sent messages to each other.  I made plans for Sunday Streets.

The game wasn’t the best but eventually I got closer to the TV as the bar crowded up.  I started talking to the lady sitting next to me.  She was into the Giants as a way to explore her community.  The game was not going great when her friend showed up.  Turned out she was an old classmate my old high school friend.  I asked about people from those day sand she actually remembered them.  They got burritos next door and the lady forced me to eat some of it.  We had a good time watching the Giants lose.  The friend  left and the lady wanted to hang out so we went to the Plough and Stars and talked more.  I had stopped at the corner store so she got there first.  We said bye and I rode home.

On the morning that I wrote this I was up at 10 and went to West Portal for a haircut.  The barber was talky.  I went to Peet’s and read the paper.  I went home and found the Wifi had failed.  I went to Java Beach.

I wrote that I went home after working and discovered I would not be using the internet for the rest of the weekend because AT&T is a horrible company.  I messaged my friend and then sent a text to the lady from the night before.  I had dinner with my mom.  I noted that I wanted to rework my abstract and post it to the AAG for the conference.  I wanted to rewrite my long form resume for Monster and CB.  I also needed to edit the mess in the NA.  I started the laundry.
